Best in creativity : Work of Toni Maticevski and his first Paris runway show

After years of having a showroom in Paris, Toni Maticevski has upped the ante with his first Paris fashion show. He launched his label in 1999. The hand of Toni Maticevski can be spotted a mile away; the pin tucks and folds here to mould the fabric, the extravagantly dramatic drapes there to shape the silhouette.

The show, filled with Maticevski signature touches, and also solidified his design aesthetic: the beauty as well as the “elegance with a rough edge and a bit of grit,” from asymmetically draped metallic dresses with a futuristic lilt to head-to-toe lightly checked grey tailoring as daywear options. The designer had only four weeks to design and make every piece in the collection, but his long-held discipline and stamina ensured competition. “I really put all my focus on it. Fabrics are chosen in advance and sometimes at the last minute. You must have a look over some of his wonderful designs.

“There is a real liveliness to the city and all the media and buyers are in great spirits. So what better time than that to include them into my world.” It’s a real organic process where the taste or the feeling of the collection evolves almost a year in advance and that thread ties many of the collections together in tone and in spirit.”  All the dresses are elegant with best of style it can carry.

His debutant did way beyond than what was expected.
