Well. It’s here. It happened. The Oscars 2019 took place at Dolby Theatre last night, and it was full of high fashion and memorable moments. With Green Book winning best picture, to Lady Gaga’s emotional speech for Shallow, the Oscars 2019 was a roller coaster of emotions.
But let’s get into why we’re really here. This year’s Academy Awards witnessed a pink explosion on a rather red carpet, and we were here for it. From all the snazzy outfits, to the toned down makeup (my dream come true), let’s take a look at all the winners on the carpet. This was by far, THE hardest selection I’ve done this awards season.
BILLY PORTER
Billy opened the carpet with a bangin’ Tuxedo Ballgown and jaws dropped everywhere! The custom Christian Siriano number was hands down, THE BEST thing we could’ve ever witnessed. And we’re grateful to Billy Porter for bestowing us with such a sight.
Tuxedo. But make it fashion.
GEMMA CHAN
Even though I had mixed feelings about this HUGE Valentino piece, Gemma Chan seemed to be carrying it rather effortlessly. The best part? POCKETS!
SARAH PAULSON
Paulson looked super chic in a pink Brandon Maxwell number. Again, pockets!!
KIKI LAYNE
Amongst all the pink we witnessed, Kiki’s baby pink Atelier Versace ensemble was the standout piece. Sleek, cool sophistication.
EMMA STONE
There is still some disagreement as to Emma’s position in the Best Dressed list. The bronzey, textured Louise Vuitton number reminds me of a waffle cone. And I’m here for it.
REGINA KING
Regina King won Best Supporting Actress for If Beale Street Could Talk, and the white Oscar de la Renta gown did her so many favours. The thigh high split – we wouldn’t dare, but King did. And we’re glad.
ASHLEY GRAHAM
Who DOESN’T love Ashley Graham. The model looked ever radiant and rocked her curves in a black Zac Posen outfit. We stan.
YALITZIA APARICIO
Pale green may be daunting to pull off, but not for new comer Yalitzia. She looked stunning in the unmissable Rodarte gown.
JENNIFER LOPEZ
Signature J Lo makeup. Tom Ford outfit. And all those mirrors. We can’t get enough of Jenny from the block.
ELSIE FISHER
Kudos to Elsie Fisher’s team for putting her in a suit the entire awards season. This outfit at the Oscars 2019 isn’t a snooze either!
GLENN CLOSE
The Wife star looked like an actual Oscar herself in her Carolina Herrera gown. But we missed her little dog on the carpet this time.
MICHELLE YEOH
The Crazy Rich Asians star closed awards season with a stunning Elie Saab number. A perfect high.
CONSTANCE WU
We’re so glad Constance went for a bright yellow ensemble by Custom Versace. It beat all the pinks to a punch! Also, does this gown remind anyone of Michelle Williams x Vera Wang?
BRAD PITT AND IRINA SHAYK
These two have owned every carpet they’ve walked on. So why should the red carpet at the Oscars 2019 be any different?
AMANDLA STENBERG
Stenberg went with a total 1920’s vibe in her Miu Miu creation. Great Gatsby, anyone?
LUCY BOYNTON AND REMI MALEK
Lucy might’ve looked like a lil French girl at the Chanel Pre-Oscars Party. But at the actual Oscars? – With boo, and ultimately Best Actor winner Remi Malek at her arm, the duo looked like a main course meal. Yum.
ANGELA BASSETT
Bassett was my other favourite pink on the red carpet. The Reem Acra piece was fabulous, and so was Angela herself.
TINA FEY
Fey channeled fabulousness with her blue Vera Wang piece. I’d wear that gown, tbh.
AMY ADAMS
Adams and her structured Atelier Versace won a lot of hearts. Although, a lot others broke because of the snub.
BRIE LARSON
Captain Marvel could’ve saved the world with her fabulous fashion. The silver Celine gown was a total showstopper! But could it have stopped Thanos? Probably.
AMY POEHLER
Elsie Fisher wasn’t the only one rocking a suit. Amy Poehler also dressed in an all black ensemble – very reminiscent of the Time’s Up movement.
EMILIA CLARKE
Khaleesi took a day off from planning a war with the army of the undead, and dropped by the Oscars 2019. And she looked as beautiful as she does when she’s freeing slaves and riding dragons.
JASON MOMOA AND LISA BONET
Aquaman and his stunning wife matched outfits at the Oscars 2019. Wearing custom Karl Lagerfeld, the duo channeled blush pink and bohemian vibes. (Did anybody else notice the scrunchie?)
LAURA HARRIER
The Blackkklansman star has served looks after looks at all the award shows she’s attended. And we’re not mad.
JENNIFER HUDSON
Red on a red carpet? If it works for Hudson, it works for us.
LADY GAGA
I didn’t know whether to pay attention to the weird hipline of her Alexander McQueen gown. Or the giant Tiffany diamond around her neck. Either way, she bid goodbye to A Star Is Born with classic glamour, and an Oscar win.
DAME HELEN MIRREN
I’d be twirling too, if I was wearing Schiaparelli Haute Couture. The sunset tones of orange, hot pink and red looked STUN-NING!
ALLISON JANNEY
Pamella Roland and a plunging neckline – Janney looked age defying all the way!
CHRIS EVANS
Captain America was the man of the night. Not cuz of his Velvet Tux, but when he escorted Regina King to the stage for her Oscar win. Best Seat Mate winner.
PAUL RUDD
So good to see Ant Man escape the Quantum Realm and show up at the Oscars 2019. And excuse me, but does this man not age????
That’s it for this year’s Oscars everybody. Congratulations to all the winners, and until next time.
But wait, we still have the after party!
