“It’s the perfect time to do something like this,” Blige tells PopSugar. “I chose the Love Me line because that’s exactly what I’m doing right now. Loving me.”

The queen of Hip-Hop Soul has partnered with MAC Cosmetics for a lipstick that reflects her current aesthetic – and it’s a pretty one. She’s been a spokesperson for the brand twice before, and this marks round 3 for the singer.

MAC x MARY J. BLIGE

This particular collaboration is in celebration of the brand’s 25th anniversary. Furthermore, 2019 also marks the 25th anniversary for Mary J. Blige’s album, “My Life”. The last time she joined hands with MAC was back in 2002 with Elton John and Shirley Manson for the infamous VIVA Glam.

Since then, the singer’s approach to makeup has changed significantly, and the product is a reflection of the same. She spills to Pop Sugar about the change – “The last time I partnered with MAC, I was not really about nude lip. I was always in a burgundy lip or black lipstick and a pound of makeup. Now I’ve evolved and grown into a place where I feel comfortable that I don’t have to wear a pound of makeup every day.”

The MAC x Mary J. Blige collab reveals the first lipstick in a line of new lippies coming up, titled, “Love Me” The singer’s colour is a light pinky nude lipstick named “French Silk”.
