INDIA FASHION WEEK SS19 , REVIEW
I am sure most of us cringed when we first heard of this collaboration between Lotus makeup and FDCI and I am sure that I am not the only exception who still cringes hearing the statement Lotus makeup India Fashion Week SS19 whose trickle-down effect was clearly seen in this season as one could notice the fall in the number of participants and attendees .
All over the fashion week was okay enough, thanks to few shows pulling it up.. Opening on a very playful note was pero with their finding pero show that made everyone smile and upcycling never looked so good .

Where as for some designers I left the msa with a headache .. No literally a major headache , courtesy Nitin Bal Chauhan , I mean the whole gatekeeper concept was great but after Prashant Verma’s killer return on the runway with a very whimsical and dramatic collection Maria , seeing Chauhan’s collection was a total nightmare .

One of the highly anticipated shows was of designer duo Shivan and Naresh with seeing major crowd lining up outside the venue the excitement was on another level and like every time the designers took inspiration from their vacations and turned the runway into a sneak peak of their holiday , terracotta statues and coastal elements decorated the ramp as the models walked down in garments flaunting tribal prints and peppy colors . But as a major S&N fan I wanted to see more .. something more than just prints and the same silhouettes.

Another hit was Lovebirds with their easy breezy clothes the collection was absolutely soothing and stunning which was made even more fun with live singing which was another thing being followed by various designers .
#trendalert casual and comfortable white garments with oversized bags .

Rest most of them just simply followed floral prints , pastels and seasonal inspiration which clearly screams that GLAMOUR HAS LEFT THE BUILDING , somebody call TOM FORD !
But as they say all is well that ends well the Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week ( another cringe ) saw a spectacular grand finale which celebrated the fall of Section 377 in India . The show was curated by Gautam Kalra and team putting 40 designers (yes the backstage was very crowded ) together with garments celebrating the rainbow and pride theme ( literally ) with few of them nailing it but most of them looking like college grad projects .
Another thing that raises my brows is why weren’t there more if not all queer models walking down the runway .. insider sources say many designers were against casting queer identities as they might not have the model size body … I am all for a great model body but isn’t it a celebration of inclusivity ? Also since did when Huma Qureshi become a queer icon ?

So my message to FDCI is better luck next time !
