Lilian von Trapp was grown and brought up in Berlin surrounded by intellectuals and scientists but she wanted to go out of the league and decided to visit law school primarily but later Lilian decided to no longer make compromises in regards to her future and to follow her heart to fashion. After spending some years working in the industry, her true calling found her when she inherited jewellery from her mother and used the materials to design her own pieces. “In order to create an ethical brand, you have to think of the pieces you create in a sustainable way, so it’s not only about fashion or being trendy, It’s about creating a piece that a woman would hopefully want to wear for her whole life or even pass on to someone else. That’s why when I create the pieces, I’m thinking ‘What can I design that will become someone’s uniform, that they don’t want to take off, that they can wear from the office to dinner?’ The jewellery just becomes part of you really.” says Lilian. There is no mining involved in creating Lilian von Trapp jewellery from vintage diamonds and gold. This makes every piece sustainable and free of the environmental and human rights issues associated with the mining of precious stones and metals. All of our recycled gold is sourced from specialized refineries in Germany, that have been “chain of custody” certified by the responsible jewellery council.
Lilian von Trapp pouches are handmade in Italy from sustainably produced and recycled organic silk and are included in every order. All additional packaging, labels and tags are produced from recycled or FSC certified paper.
