Lakme Fashion Week 2018 Day 1 Highlights to know every detail of fashion
From bright laser lights to dramatic eyes and techno music, five new labels on Wednesday made an impressionable start at the opening show at the Lakme Fashion Week 2018 day 1. The show started with Anurag Gupta, who showcased a collection inspired from Mauritius Cornelis Escher’s day and night artwork. An “excited”, Gupta said that his collection, comprised of dresses, jackets, pants are edgy and relaxing. White sneakers with Sarees, Kurtas, dresses and suits, was the fashion game of Kanika Sachdev. Label Yaavi showcased an array of hand-painted separates on silks designed for contemporary women. Ajay Kumar Singh showcased a wide range of digital prints and patchwork with machine embroidery on Khadi and handloom fabrics. While Sweta Gupta showcased a modern take on nomadic expressions through weaves. Her collection included fabrics like chanderi cotton, silk and merino wool yarns in hues like grey and shades of slate and silt. Chola explored sexuality and exploration with drag makeup and vibrant eyes that spoke volumes. Chola collection and the makeup is what we can say as changing fashion statement. Abraham & Thakore collection was titled as ‘Cocktails and Samosas’, a line of clean-cut separates inspired by the Eastern tradition of wrapping and tying. Salwar and churidar in an eclectic mix of geometric Banarasi weave, hand-embroidered tussar, hand-cut silk and sequined pieces. Good earth is one of the finest examples of a homegrown luxury label that is India-proud of because of its language, legacy and aesthetics. This year collection was a play between the versatility and flexibility of gota, and its reinterpretation in a contemporary context that will resonate with the modern consumer.
