Kelsey Merritt is the first Filipino model to walk the Victoria’s Secret runway, and she’s partnered up with Vogue to show you the makeup look she did which eventually led her to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2018. And the best part? No wings are required for this look.

Kelsey Merritt’s everyday makeup routine starts off with her applying sunscreen in combination with moisturizer. She uses the Broad Spectrum SPF 50 UV Protecting Fluid by La Mer to prep her skin and protect it against harmful UV rays, and stresses about how skin care is super important for your makeup routine. She also talks about how she moisturizes depending on how her skin is feeling.

Kelsey then applies coconut oil on her body and talks about how she’s obsessed with everything coconut. She drops another beauty tip regarding Aloe – about how great it is for dry hair and scalp. She cuts off a piece of her aloe plant, extracts the juice and applies it onto her scalp and dry hair, leaving it overnight.
For her dry lips, Kelsey uses a damp towel to scrub her lips and applies a lip balm she swears by – Image Skin Care’s Ormedic Balancing Lip Enhancement Complex. Kelsey then uses Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Foundation as a base. She says she loves looking bronzey, and hence uses a shade darker than her skin for foundation. Since she doesn’t want super full coverage, she takes a little amount and spreads it on her face using her fingers. “I don’t like hiding my freckles because they’re my favourite part of my face.”

Kelsey skips applying powder over her foundation since she prefers it to look like skin, and grabbing Charlotte Tilbury’s Beach Stick, she does her contour and blends it out with a brush. “Having a little colour on your skin makes you look healthier.”

Using Glossier’s Stretch Concealer, Kelsey conceals her breakouts and applies a little underneath the eyes. She also uses NARS’ Concealer to hide stubborn pimples. Kelsey then grabs her favourite Tarte Cosmetics’ blush, and applies it to her cheeks and a little on her nose.

Since she struggled with eye makeup, Kelsey asked a makeup artist for help, who told her that the simplest way to do eyeshadow was to start from the middle and work your way up. She uses Tom Ford’s Cream and Powder Eye colour and maintains the brown and bronzey tone of her look. She also grabs Charlotte Tilbury’s Film Star Bronze and Glow for bronzing and adding highlighter.

“I’m in a makeup chair a lot, and I love observing what makeup artists put on my face. So a lot of the things that I’m doing, I learnt just through watching them.” She then goes back to her eyes, and runs a little brow gel through her already thick eyebrows, and curls her lashes using an eyelash curler. Kelsey uses Maybelline’s The Falsies mascara for her lashes, wiggling at the bottom and dragging the wand up. She uses a face mist to set her makeup and give it a little glow. She says she ties her hair in a bun throught out the day and when she lets it loose, her hair is already curled.

She uses Charlotte Tilbury’s lipstick, and for a transition from day to night, uses the same Tom Ford eye colour and packs on glitter.
Kelsey Merritt walked this year’s Victoria’s Secret runway, and the show will be aired on 2nd December.
