Jeffree Star is a person of many talents, and businesses! With his liquid lipsticks earning top spots in multiple vanities, there’s hardly anything the mogul can’t do. His recent release of the Magic Star Concealers and Powders were also a massive hit in the beauty community. However, the tides seem to have changed for his upcoming line – The Gloss.
JEFFREE STAR THE GLOSS
The lip glosses by Jeffree Star had been teased for a while. And last night, the YouTuber dropped a full reveal on what’s coming. ‘The Gloss’, as it’s named, has a line of EIGHTEEN lip glosses – an item that has been requested by almost everyone.
The glosses are divided into 2 categories –
- 12 Glitter Fantasy
- 6 Extreme Shine
And as you already probably can tell, the Glitter Fantasy glosses have a sparkly AF finish. While the Extreme Shine glosses have, well, an extreme shine. These don’t have any glitter/sparkle, so they’re great for church.
THE PACKAGING AND THE FORMULA
The Gloss, according to Star, isn’t tacky or sticky whatsoever. Instead, it has a wet, high-shine finish. The doe foot applicator is long – something Star wanted, so you can coat your entire lip in one go. The packaging, however, resembles those of the Magic Star Concealer. With the exception of the top, which doesn’t have the star the concealer does.
SHADES
The Gloss also carries a crème brûlée scent. Yum.

RECEPTION
Unlike most launches by Star, The Gloss isn’t getting a lot of positive reviews. Yikes!
“I LOVE jeffree but some of the glosses on the lips look like a disease.” (oof. That’s rough.)
“I’m sorry but this has got to be the worst promo pics or whatever from a makeup brand….I’m just….they need to do a emergency meeting bc I just …I don’t even know what can fix it.”
“I’m sorry but they look like lip infections.”
Numerous comments have been left on Trendmood’s post of The Gloss. And the majority isn’t impressed, especially considering the wait. People dislike the packaging, as well as how the formula shows up on the lips in the campaign photos.
The only thing is, I suppose we’ll have to wait until we actually receive the product to see how well it works/doesn’t work.
Apart from The Gloss, Star is also bringing back limited edition shades to the permanent line. These include –
- 818
- Poinsettia
- Romeo
- Cherry Wet
- Family Jewels
- Huntington Beach
- Mermaid Blood
- Restraints
- First Class
- Venus Flytrap
- Soft Serve
- Thirst Trap
The Gloss hits online and in-store markets on the 31st of this month. Set the alarms, or not.
