2018 was expected to go like a rollercoaster ride, especially for the fashion industry. There were many Iconic Fashion Moments which gave us reasons to celebrate fashion better and more, for sure these changes were demanded since long. The year started on a tumultuous note with allegations of sexual misconduct against international photographers and stylists, which brought the wave of Time’s Up and #MeToo in the world of fashion.
Apart from that, there were some more special moments which the industry celebrated like a move towards body positivity, diversity and feminism were other keywords that the industry was buzzing with. Times Up Moment
This was a huge celebration as it was the 75th anniversary of golden globes awards which was expected to be the biggest celebration ever till this date. It was also an opportunity for film stars to wear all black to protest against sexual harassment and in honour of the #timesup. Everyone wore the best of they could but the award ceremony was dominated by the scandals of sexual harassment at work and gender inequality.

Woolmark Price Winner: Designer Ruchika Sachdeva
After designers Rahul Mishra and Suket Dhir winning the menswear title for the International Woolmark Prize, it was Ruchika Sachdeva of Bodice who made India proud with her momentous win. The designer was presented with the womenswear title from the Australian-based award company. The Bodice designer translated Indian art and traditional techniques into an innovative and progressive collection. Her thoughtful design techniques and approach to sustainability impressed everyone.
Embracing Every Body Positively
The autumn/winter 2018 season at New York Fashion Week had designers like Prabal Gurung, Christian Siriano, Carly Cushnie, Chromat and more fully embrace body positivity and inclusivity. Plus-size models were prominent names that walked the runway.
Section 377 Being Decriminalised At LMIFW
It was an explosion of colours as models of all shapes, sizes and genders took the runway for the grand finale of the Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week. Always a flamboyant affair, the final show this year found inspiration in the vibrant Rainbow emblem of the LGBTQ+ community. Celebrating the decriminalization of homosexuality and dilution of Section 377, 40 designers from across the country created one outfit each, reinterpreting the six-colour rainbow.
