Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) is jointly organized by Lakmé, the No.1 cosmetics and beauty services brand in India and IMG Reliance, the global leader in sports and entertainment event marketing and management. LFW has been conceived and created with a vision to “Redefine the future of fashion and Integrate India into the global fashion world”. LFW is organized twice every year. Lakme Fashion Week is a bi-annual fashion event that takes place in Mumbai almost every year. Its Summer Resort show takes place in February whiles the Winter-Festive show takes place in August. It is considered a premier fashion event in India. It is run by Fashion Design Council of India(FDCI) and the title sponsor is Lakme. Although everytime the summer resort takes place in the month of February but this time it started a little bit late. This year, the Summer/Resort edition will take place from March 30th to April 3rd 2016, and looks set to be the most exciting yet. The stage will host a series of seminars, workshops and runway shows throughout the event, and will catapult a new age of fashion and designers into the spotlight, as it did last year.
The event was jointly organized by the number one Indian cosmetics and beauty brand Lakmé and IMG Fashion. IMG Reliance Pvt Ltd., is an equal joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), India’s largest and most recognized private sector company, and IMG Worldwide (IMG), the world’s leading sports marketing and management company. The joint venture company will develop, market and manage sports and entertainment in India. Its current assets include India’s premier fashion event, Lakmé Fashion Week and South Asia’s only ATP World Tour event, the Aircel Chennai Open.
The event first took place in 1999 and international models such as Naomi Campbell as well as Indian film stars such as Deepika Padukone, Malaika Arora Khan, and Arjun Rampal have participated in it. International labels that have taken part in LFW include Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, and Roberto Cavalli. Among Indian designers, Manish Malhotra, Rohit Bal, Tarun Tahiliani, and Ritu Beri have taken part in the event. The event has been responsible for launching the careers of designers such as Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
This year many designers showcased their fresh collection like Manish Malhotra, Anita Dogre, Anushree Reddy, Ridhi Mehra, Amrich, Swati Kalsi, P.E.L.L.A, Aneeth Arora and many more.
Not just the international designers stole the hearts of everyone, this time our Indian designers did their best by displaying the best of all cultures in their designs. I personally liked the collection of Anushree Reddy where she used simple clothing ideas with warm shades and simple designs.
