Let’s talk foundation today (again) cuz I apparently own a lot of them (lol). And this time we’ll talk about a “drugstore” brand with a foundation that is priced at a not-so-drugstore number. We’re talking about the NYX Total Control Drop Foundation.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Somehow, NYX seems to be hitting all the right notes when it comes to shade range. For a drugstore brand, the NYX Total Control Drop Foundation comes in a surprising 30 shades! Inclusive? Pretty much.
I picked up the foundation when it launched on Nykaa, and in the shade “Natural” and sat on my hands waiting for my package (as usual). Anyhoo, I was super excited to receive the foundation, and when I did, I knew I had to use it right away.
The foundation comes in a ~tiny~ glass bottle with a dropper dispenser, enclosed in a black card box. Forrealz, the bottle seemed SO MUCH TINIER in comparison to how it appeared in pictures and my expectations. The TCDP retails for INR 1250 for 13 ml of product, which is UP THERE for a drugstore brand.

The consistency of the foundation is suuuper watery but blends easily without being streaky and patchy and dries to a semi-matte finish. (which is perfect if you have oily/combination skin) The amount of coverage is directly proportional to the number of drops you use- the more the drops, the more the coverage. Even though NYX says 2 drops is light, 3 is medium and 4 or more is full, its still pretty debatable. Me? I’m a light coverage kinda gal so I just use the tiniest amount and I’m done.

Here’s what amazed me about the foundation- the shade I picked was pretty white for me. And just as I was about to admit that I looked like the Ghost of Christmas Past, I glanced at myself in the mirror. Somehow, the foundation had oxidized and matched me PERFECTLY! I was ecstatic. The TCDP wears for a good 5-6 hours and has the tendency to settle into laugh lines. (boo!) But it definitely is a beautiful, light weight foundation which I use every now and then.
