Would you believe me if I told you that there exists a miracle plant? A plant, although composed of 99% water, has the ability to take care of MOST of your skin’s needs. If that’s not miraculous, I don’t know what is. That plant, ladies and gents, is Aloe Vera.

Yep. You’re obviously aware of how beautiful this spiky li’l babe is. Slice it open and scoop out the jelly goodness. Slather it all over yourself, if you please. And find your issues disappear like the people who owe you money.

THE BENEFITS?
  • It soothes sun burn ASAP! Considering the boiling heat, you’re gonna need Aloe.
  • Hydration, hydration, hydration.
  • It treats acne – for real!
  • Aging? Wrinkles? What’s that?
  • Helps with stretch marks and scars. (not the emotional kind, unfortunately. Consult your therapist for help.)
  • Smooth, soft skin for days.

Here are a few ways to use your hero ingredient that will help you keep your skin feeling in great spirits all summer long.

ON IT’S OWN

Yes, you can. Rub on the jelly goodness all over your skin. Either during the day, or overnight. The plant contains anti-bacterial, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties – so it can be used on it’s pwn or in combination with a couple of other ingredients to tackle whatever issues you may be facing.

FOR DRY SKIN

Blend together

  • Aloe vera
  • Pinch of turmeric
  • Teaspoon of honey
  • Teaspoon of milk
  • Few drops of rose water

Apply. Leave on for 20 minutes. Wash off.

AS A SCRUB

Mix together half a cup of fresh aloe, a cup of sugar and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.

The aloe will clean the skin, while the sugar exfoliates and lemon lightens pigmentation/scars.

Can be used on both face and body.

FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN

Grab some aloe gel, a handful of blended walnuts and honey. Mix them altogether and apply. Wash off after 10 minutes.

FOR SENSITIVE SKIN
  • Aloe vera gel
  • Cucumber juice
  • Yogurt
  • Rose oil

Mix all the ingredients together and apply. Rinse off 20 minutes later!

AS A SOOTHING SPRAY

According to Medical News Today, “Spraying the skin with a diluted aloe vera solution can help hydrate skin without causing extra oil production or shine.”

Mix roughly 2 parts water with 1 part of aloe vera. Dump the concoction into a spray bottle and spray. (Keep your eyes closed, please)
